Jim Metcher is the Branch Secretary of the NSW Postal and Telecommunications Branch.

An elected full time position he has held since October 1996. Jim also presently holds other various elected positions within the Union, being Communications Divisional Executive Member, Communications Divisional Conference Member, National Council and National Executive Member of the CEPU.  From 1990, Jim held various elected and employed full time positions within the Union.  He is the ACTU-nominated Employee Director of the Australia Post Superannuation Scheme since 2003.

From 1980 Jim was employed as a Postal Delivery Officer and was promoted to Delivery Manager level with Australia Post at the Randwick Delivery Centre for a short period before accepting to enter the Union as a full time Official in 1990.

His main area of responsibility apart from administering the NSW P&T Branch is representing Postal and Telecommunications.
