Packed attendence supports action against Post

(10 August, 2009): It was standing room only last Saturday as over 120 CEPU union delegates in NSW turned up for an urgent EBA7 consultation meeting.

Besides hearing about the union concerns regarding Post's EBA7 offer, delegates also discussed potential industrial action designed to advance member claims for a fair EBA7 in Australia Post.

Our NSW delegates have joined their colleagues in other states who have met with union officials in recent weeks to discuss the type of action they're prepared to take to get a better EBA offer from Post.

The NSW delegates meeting was addressed by CEPU National President Ed Husic and NSW P&T Branch Secretary Jim Metcher.

After countless negotiations, NSW delegates said they understood that continuing talks are now useless and that they now had to step up to defend and push for:

* Better job security
* Improved safety outcomes
* Protection of take home pay.

Delegates voted unanimously to take a strong stand in support of an improved offer - and to take action to achieve this outcome.

DID YOU KNOW? Only union members can vote to take protected industrial action? If you know someone who is not a member, get them to sign up today!

The views of members will now be fed into the union decision making process governing the Australia Post EBA7 campaign.

Later this week the Divisional Executive of the union will meet to consider the formal steps required to take protected industrial action.

It will also consider the next steps in the EBA campaigns for Post Logisitics and Decipha.

We will keep you updated about these developments.
