(22 December, 2009): Unions from across the world have offered their support to our campaign for a fairer EBA7.
Earlier this month at the Union Network International – Asia/Pacific Regional Organisation (UNI-APRO) Postal and Logistics conference, which represents Postal Unions from Asia, Russia, the Middle East, New Zealand and Australia, passed a resolution formally supporting our campaign.
As part of this action, UNI-APRO unions have committed to delivering international unstamped mail from Australia – in support of our free mail days.
Below is the resolution passed at the conference on 13 December 2009.
CEPU members have also received the support of our good friends from over the Pacific Ocean, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), whose National President Denis Lemelin wrote to CEPU members offering this support:
Our deepest appreciation to them for their thoughts and solidarity.
RESOLUTION
UNI-Apro Post and Logistics Conference
(13 December 2009, Hanoi Vietnam)
"All affiliates of gathering at UNI Apro Post and Logistics Conference in Hanoi Vietnam express their support for the workers of Australia Post in their campaign to obtain a decent agreement that will protect jobs and conditions.
The affiliates of UNI Apro Post and Logistics express their concern at the high-handed attitude of Australia Post and resolve to assist CEPU should Australia Post not offer reasonable job security undertakings.
The affiliates of UNI Apro Post and Logistics note the free posting at Christmas and will ensure international unstamped mail will also be delivered.
The affiliates of UNI Apro Post and Logistics ask that UNI advise the General manager of Australia Post of this resolution and our ongoing support for postal workers and their union."
