(23 January, 2009): Talks have been held between Australia Post and the CEPU and CPSU to help finalise the corporation's enterprise agreement.
Two important meetings have been held in the last month, one of which occurred Wednesday 21 January. During these discussions, we outlined a range of matters we think needs further consideration. They include some of the following matters:
• consultation and dispute resolution
• future delivery design
• contracting out
• use of agency staff and contractors
• franchising and retail conversion policy
• allowances
• roster changes
• OH&S and management of medical issues.
The CEPU has argued that movement on the bulk of these issues should not add cost to the business -- but it should help provide greater peace of mind to members concerned about job security, especially as business conditions cool.
Given the EBA7 negotiations have run for an extremely long period, both Post and the unions agree that any new discussions need to be finalised within the coming weeks.
