(16 September, 2009) Your Union has presented Australia Post with an EBA7 proposal that boosts and protects your job security, safety at work and take-home pay.
Last week, after Australia Post spent truckloads on high-priced lawyers to shut down your ballot for protected industrial action, your Union promised to move quickly.
After assessing our legal options, we have presented Post management with a version of EBA7 that addresses your biggest concerns in the workplace.
Over the weekend, hundreds of members across Sydney attended briefings to show their support for the campaign and the proposal we are putting to Post on your behalf. It was a terrific signal from members who are telling management they demand to see a better EBA offer.
We are ready to talk NOW:
Australia Post used their high-priced lawyers to amazingly argue that we haven’t been genuinely bargaining, even though we have been negotiating with them for an EBA7 for over 18 months.
If Post is genuine about its desire to negotiate they have a chance to prove their sincerity.
On presenting Australia Post with our EBA7 proposal, we’ve informed management that we are prepared to begin negotiations straight away – and we have called for a response to our offer to meet within the next 24 hours.
Last week the corporation said via an SIB from Post’s HR Chief Rod McDonald, quote;
“you should urge the CEPU leadership to get back to the bargaining table and do what they should have been doing all along – genuinely trying to reach an agreement with Australia Post”
Late yesterday Post advised it will notify their final position to the union no earlier than close of business this coming Friday (18 September).
In the next few days we will be releasing further details about the proposal that we have put to Post, including a detailed information briefing.
