CEPU applies for broad range of action

(3 November, 2008): The CEPU will go to the Australian Industrial Relations Commission today to ask that its members to be allowed to vote in a ballot that allows the following industrial action to occur:

  • An unlimited number of four hour (4), twenty-four (24) and forty-eight (48) hour  rolling stoppages of work;
  • An unlimited number of indefinite or periodic bans on overtime (paid and unpaid), recalls/call backs, performing higher duties and not attending management meetings; and/or
  • An unlimited number of indefinite stoppages at work.


For a ballot to be successful, two important steps are needed:

  • 50 per cent of all eligible voters MUST VOTE, regardless of if they vote yes or no
  • More than 50 per cent of those who do vote, MUST VOTE YES
